Ms. Rapscott is the headmistress and sole teacher at the Great Rapscott School for the Daughters of Busy Parents. These parents are so busy, in fact, that rather than dropping their daughters off at school they simple box them up, with some crackers and cheese in case they get hungry, and send them through the post. (One set of parents is so busy that they forget to pull the seal on the easy-stick flap and their daughter is lost somewhere on the way.)
Ms. Rapscott’s girls take walks along Less Traveled Road, learn the secret of getting lost on purpose and how to find yourself, and despite some initial reservations, are sad when Summer term ends and it’s time to go home until the Fall.
A silly story that will provoke considerable discussion among younger readers. The audiobook is read by the incomparible Katherine Kellgren.
